ALVEUS
Alveus Sanctuary is a nonprofit organisation founded by Maya Higa.
It functions as an exotic animal sanctuary and as a virtual education centre facility to provide permanent homes to non-releasable exotic animals.
They aim to spread conservation awareness and education to the next generation through harnessing the power of online platforms, such as Twitch, YouTube, Instagram and TikTok. They are committed to delivering high-quality, curated and well-researched educational content that tells a story, through series such as Animal Quest, and through collaborations with other creators.
Viewers can also follow along with our ambassadors and their daily lives at the sanctuary, fostering a deeper connection between our audience, the ambassadors, and the species they represent, while learning about the conservation stories for each of them. Each ambassador at Alveus is chosen with a purpose, being representatives of their species with unique stories to be told about conservation or consumer choice.
Their goal is to inspire online audiences across the world to get involved with conservation efforts. They hope to create more awareness for the diverse planet we live on, and to encourage people to take action to protect it, with every individual being able to make a difference.

I am going to create a set of eco-friendly gift wrap inspired by Alveus Animal Sanctuary. It will focus on highlighting the charity's environmentally friendly mission while including the individual animal ambassadors.

PARROTS - Tico and Miley
Tico and Miley were re-homed to Alveus as the previous sanctuary’s owner was retiring,
She is an ambassador for how the pet trade has affected her parrot species and many others around the world.
Many parrot owners think they will be a fun exotic pet to have, but rarely understand their complex needs.
Parrots can scream at up to 140 decibels, enough to deafen a person.
They are also extremely destructive, even having the force to bite of humans fingers at ease.
Many owners re-home their parrots or release them to the wild, repeating a cycle of neglect for these birds.

He is an ambassador for the exotic pet trade and how it affects primate species worldwide.
It is legal in Texas for marmosets to be owned as pets, but they can easily be neglected by unprepared owners.
They can become aggressive when left inside too long in cramped spaces, and are very destructive

SNAKE - Patchy
Patchy was re-homed to Alveus from a local breeder after it was discovered that she had a genetic defect and was missing an eye.
She is an ambassador for how the pet trade and habitat loss has affected hers and many other reptile species worldwide.
Snakes are endangered due to hunters capturing them for their scales. Patchy is a ball python, and when they are scared they curl into a ball, making it incredibly easy for poachers to capture them.
